He might not be internationally known, but he has been known to rock the microphone. Oh yeah, baby. We’re talking about Rob Base, the Harlem rapper (born Robert Ginyard) who busted onto the scene in 1988 with DJ EZ Rock (Rodney Bryce) and their hit song “It Takes Two.” Although the two had gone their separate ways by the end of 1989, they will share the stage tonight at the La Lega dei Viscayani’s eighth annual Red, White, and Blue fundraising party at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Also on the bill is soulful singer Martha Wash, who is known for her once uncredited contribution to C+C Music Factory’s 1990 anthem (and The Simpsons classic steel mill party song) “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now).” In addition to live music, you can imbibe from the Flor de CaƱa open bar and watch the sky above Biscayne Bay light up with a spectacular fireworks display. Revelers will be sweatin’ from 8:00 to midnight, rain or shine. Tickets cost $70 in advance, $85 at the door. Parking is free, but there is a docking fee for those arriving by boat.
