They Just Wanna Dance

Your dance card will be overflowing at the ten-day Florida Dance Festival hosted by the dance division of the New World School of the Arts and Tigertail Productions. Today through July 1, watch the masters at work, live onstage at the NWSA dance theater (25 NE Second St., Miami) as well as the Colony Theatre. Or pull on your dancin’ shoes and take a class in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, African, or hip-hop.

You want highlights? It’s difficult to know where to begin. Maybe the rhythms of A Celebration of African and Caribbean Dance, presented by dancers from the New World School and the University of Florida, will put you in the mood, or perhaps In the Moment: An Evening of Dance and Music Improvisation may spark your interest with their promise of a night of “spontaneous choreography and playful inventiveness.” CandoCo from London, in conjunction with danceAble, will feature dancers with and without disabilities; a week of workshops; and a half-day public forum, Beyond Accessibility: Impacting the Lives of Artists with Disabilities, on June 28. Call 305-674-6575, or visit floridadanceassociation.org for ticket prices and a complete schedule.
