Sonido Batido

When a band's name means "sound mixture," you know you're about to hear something deliberately style-bending. Sonido Batido has been performing in Miami since 2003, when it began building a reputation for making extreme live-music mashups work out okay. In the past, the band members used organs, trumpets, and traditional tunes to win crowds over — even turning a Japanese children's song into a fifteen-minute jam. Lately they have been playing as a quartet at the upscale eatery Mosaico, leaving the organ for a more simple blend of Latin and jazz fused with classical Asian.
