We Are the World

Every charitable cause benefits from a celebrity spokesperson. Television news bombards us with so many tragic images that we inevitably become jaded, and it often takes a famous face to focus our attention. Take the crisis in Sudan, a bitterly divided nation ravaged by civil war. Since the conflict began early in 2003, at least 180,000 people are thought to have died, and an estimated three million others need food aid or have fled their homes. But partly thanks to Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, and Angelina Jolie, the crisis in Sudan’s Darfur region has become front-page news. Do your part to help the innocent victims in this desperate corner of the world by taking part in the Save Darfur Walk-a-Thon today from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. It costs five dollars to participate, and all proceeds will go to the cause.
Sun., May 21, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
