Before whisking her off to a fabulous Mother’s Day brunch, you should take Mom for a stroll. Today the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization is launching its inaugural Miami Walk to Empower at Kennedy Park (2200 S. Bayshore Dr., Coconut Grove). The Y-ME’s mission is not medical research, but “to ensure -- through information, empowerment, and peer support -- that no one faces breast cancer alone.” Funds raised will benefit services such as the 24-hour hotline, outreach programs, and the wig and prosthesis bank to assist those with limited resources. Registration begins at 7:30, and everyone starts walking at 9:00. Entertainment and snacks will be provided at the finish. There is no registration fee, but walkers are encouraged to raise at least $100. Call 877-YME-7223, ext. 2735, or visit www.y-me.org/miami for more information.
