Latin Music Mishmash

If you were one tequila shot short of fully experiencing the Mexican phenomenon known as Cinco de Mayo, get the rest of your Latin dose tonight at Centro Cultural Español. DJ Fussible (Pepe Mogt) provides Nortec music -- a mix of Tijuana’s popular folk music Norteño and techno. Feast your eyes on videos by Octavio Castellanos and works from the “Constant Disturbance” exhibition -- a collection of drawings, paintings, photographs, and posters about sustaining Latin identity and culture. There will be a screening of Touring Bari, a documentary of the Spanish group Ojos de Brujos’s 2005 U.S. debut tour. The band is a collective of young musicians, dancers, DJs, and visual artists who blend flamenco with hints of electronica, rumba, hip-hop, reggae, and other worldly beats. Admission is free, and the fun begins at 8:00. Call 305-448-9677, or visit www.ccemiami.org.
