Now you can enjoy the benefits of working out with a pole without having to endure the bikini wax or don pasties. The latest fitness craze to sweep the nation combines choreographed dance moves and a sturdy pole from which to swing. Not only does it burn calories and strengthen muscles, but also the power of conquering the pole can unleash your sexuality and boost self-esteem. “It really altered my life,” says studio owner and instructor Susan Hilferty, a former University of Miami cheerleader and Miami Heat dancer who is trained in ballet. “I have a pole in my living room.” Even if you have never taken a dance class, you will soon be grooving with the best of them. “It is for any woman, eighteen or older, any size, any shape,” says Hilferty, who offers classes at many skill levels. Sure, we know what you’re thinking, and the answer is no: “I’ve never been a stripper, not that there’s anything wrong with that,” laughs Hilferty, who just happened to attend high school with Jennifer Aniston. “I’d love to get her in a class.” Learn more at the Free Opening Party at Pole Fitness Studio.
