Fashionistas, stop! Do not buy those funky necklaces at overpriced mall retail stores. Empower your style by taking a jewelry-making class at the Gem and Bead Gallery. We give really good classes, assures owner Esther Puig. We have about five or six students at the most, so everyone gets personalized attention. Sessions are held Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Beading One teaches the basics of necklace stringing, and Wiring One shows students how to make chandelier earrings and rosaries. Classes range from $30 to $35, which includes the use of tools and materials. Participants also receive half off most beads, and fifteen percent off pricier stones. We have thousand-dollar sapphires, all the way to crystals for two dollars a strand, says Puig. All classes are by appointment, and attendees must register in advance.
