Island Entertainment

The Historical Museum of Southern Florida has a stellar reputation for displaying the vast magnificence of Caribbean culture. Now visitors can browse the exhibits and enjoy the Caribbean Film Series, a bonanza of free film screenings set in tropical climes. Flicks begin at 7:00 p.m. every Thursday in May and will include Raoul Peck’s Cannes-nominated Man by the Shore, and Stephanie Black’s searing H-2 Worker, a Sundance award-winning documentary about desperate sugar-cane harvesters. Most films will be screened at the museum, but the series kicks off tonight at the Tower Theater (1508 SW Eighth St., Miami) with Nada Más, a charming Cuban tale that won the Grand Jury Prize at the Miami International Film Festival in 2003.
Thursdays, 7 p.m. Starts: May 4. Continues through May 31
