Headlining Metropolis's first hip-hop show/MC battle will be South Florida's most notable hip-hop group, SoulWhat?, which comprises three young Miami natives — 23-year-old Juan "Afterlogic" Pedraza, 23-year-old Danny "Newsense" Villamil, and 20-year-old Samuel "Parable" Donado — who have opened for hip-hop legends like Digable Planets, Fat Lip, and Jeru the Damaja. Their smart brand of hip-hop — fun, personal, clever, and original — is more than a breath of fresh air; it's more like the breath of life to the local hip-hop scene. After SoulWhat?'s 35-minute set, in which the trio will be accompanied by a live band, eight MCs selected through an audition prior to the show will battle onstage for a $500 cash prize. The crowd chooses the winner.
