You must have seen the signs and banners: Carmen is coming to the Florida Grand Opera. Many of the ads touting the upcoming show are written in Spanish, perhaps hoping to draw a Hispanic crowd eager to see a show set in Spain. Nevertheless the campaign is still odd, considering Bizet wrote the thing in French. But today, no matter your mother tongue, you can learn that sexy body language known as flamenco, with Carmen: Dancing with the Stars. Renowned dancer and choreographer Rosa Mercedes is giving lessons if you are interested in giving it a twirl. Those with two left feet can catch a backstage tour of the FGO’s production, where you can check out costumes and sets, and have some snacks with the stars of the show. Simply come to the Miami-Dade County Auditorium today at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free. Call 305-547-5414, or visit www.fgo.org for a performance schedule.
