Ween

Quirky New Hope, Pennsylvania duo Ween can't be put into any sort of musical genre box or category. So don't even try, big-booty bitch. Over the past two decades, Gene and Dean Ween (Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo) have kept their devoted fans amused with music only a fifteen-year-old boy would (or should, rather) love. Turds, dicks, drugs — they're all represented well throughout the Ween catalogue, which includes ten studio albums, beginning with 1990's critically acclaimed GodWeenSatan: The Oneness. Yes, that's right, critically acclaimed. Fans may be of the Beavis and Butt-Head, SpongeBob SquarePants, South Park variety (the band's music has been associated with all three series), but behind every in-your-face "Fuck you, you stinkin'-ass ho," "I want to kill you," and "Piss up a rope" is a well-crafted piece of music with a message. Granted, the group may have been on shrooms at the time, but whether it's in the form of catchy pop (White Pepper), prog rock (The Mollusk), or country (12 Golden Country Greats), Ween has made a career out of the "concept" album, all the while not pissing off its fans. In fact they wouldn't want their Ween any other way.
