Dee Dee Bridgewater

It seems like there's some unwritten law dictating that all great American jazz performers must migrate to Paris in order to be appreciated back home. Dee Dee Bridgewater is no exception. During her self-imposed exile in France, Bridgewater's great voice finally found its place as a great interpreter. Her majestic performances in musicals such as Lady Day, along with a unique melodic scatting style, made her a favorite with European audiences. Bridgewater finally swayed the American public with the release of the 1997 album Dear Ella. The tribute to the late Ella Fitzgerald won two Grammys, and a new generation of fans discovered her back catalogue. On her latest release, J'ai Deux Amours, Bridgewater pays homage to her beloved Paris. The CD includes classics such as "La Mer" and "La Belle Vie." Expect an intimate and peerless show sung mostly in French.
