These Cooks Care

For dinner tonight, get out of the kitchen and head to the mall, where some of South Florida’s most popular chefs will be preparing tasty delights for the whole family. Iron Chef America winner Michelle Bernstein will be cooking shredded duck confit made with Israeli couscous for the Caring Chefs for Kids event to benefit the Children’s Home Society of Florida. “Teaching children to cook has always been so important to me,” says Bernstein. “It makes them more independent, proud of knowing and learning new things.... There is a huge reward in cooking — it’s all tangible. We as chefs are lucky to be able to see our ‘masterpieces’ come to fruition every day. Instilling that in a child is a huge gift.”

You can also indulge in culinary creations from Barton G, Bice Grand Café, P.F. Chang’s, and many more, while listening to the sounds of Johnny Rodgers. The little ones will even have their own area for food and activities. Feast from 7:00 to 9:00 at The Falls. Advance tickets cost $50, $15 for children under eighteen. Family packs can be purchased for $125. Call 305-755-6520, or visit www.chsfl.org.
