These Cooks CareBy Lyssa OberkreserPublished on April 06, 2006For dinner tonight, get out of the kitchen and head to the mall, where some of South Florida’s most popular chefs will be preparing tasty delights for the whole family. Iron Chef America winner Michelle Bernstein will be cooking shredded duck confit made with Israeli couscous for the Caring Chefs for Kids event to benefit the Children’s Home Society of Florida. “Teaching children to cook has always been so important to me,” says Bernstein. “It makes them more independent, proud of knowing and learning new things.... There is a huge reward in cooking — it’s all tangible. We as chefs are lucky to be able to see our ‘masterpieces’ come to fruition every day. Instilling that in a child is a huge gift.”
