Volley of the Dolls

Get set to bump and spike on the beach

On any given weekend many a hottie can be spied working on his (or her) hot bod and perfect tan while swatting a volleyball on Miami Beach. This weekend the volleyball kings and queens can work on their wallets as well as their serves when the Corona Light Big Shot Volleyball Series takes over the sand. Free for spectators, this two day tourney is making a tour around the East Coast, with one of the first stops in our Lummus Park. From 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today (9:00 to 6:00 Sunday), men’s, women’s, and coed teams will answer the call of the volley gods and spend two days trying to win a spot in the national tournament, set to take place in October on Clearwater Beach. Local beach volleyball star Gaston Macau -- a player on the International Pro Beach Volleyball Tour -- will be vying for the $50,000 grand prize. Not a professional? No worries. Novice- and intermediate-level play is also available. Any team with $50 for the entry fee can join the fun. Visit www.eevb.net for details.
