Just the mention of Winter Party Festival can send all the pretty boys and handsome women squealing. The sophisticated selection of arts and cultural events -- including ballet, film, fashion show, music, museums, and comedy -- is a classy complement to the rum fueled pool parties for which the festival is famous.

Beginning tonight at 8:00, the fest kicks off with a romantic Movie Under the Stars event at the Surfcomber Hotel (1717 Collins Ave., Miami Beach). Presented by Here! and the eighth annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Guys & Balls is a hilarious romp about a gay goalie -- who is outed and then banished -- in a rural German town that lives for soccer. Tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

On Thursday, March 2, a comic, a Broadway star, and an opera legend will take the stage at the Manuel Artime Theater (900 SW First Ave., Miami). Forces of Nature: An Evening of Powerful Performances features the sharp wit of comic legend Kate Clinton, Ghetto Superstar Billy Porter, and the powerful pipes of Ada de Luque. The Miami Gay Men’s Chorus will also perform. Tickets cost $55 in advance, $65 at the door.

If fashion is your passion, Friday night’s Moonlight Fashion Extravaganza at Euclid Circle on Lincoln Road cannot be missed. MCed by the fabulous Elaine Lancaster, this free show features designs by 2xist, Red Carter, and students from the Design & Architecture Senior High School. The sashaying begins at 8:30.
