For Rent

Anthony Rapp gives his regards to Broadway

Fans of the stoner classic Dazed and Confused will remember Anthony Rapp as Tony, the sidekick to Adam Goldberg’s Mike -- you know, the one who had the dream about “getting it on with the perfect female body ... but with the head of Abraham Lincoln.” Rapp went on to find success on the New York stage. He landed the role of filmmaker Mark Cohen in Jonathan Larson’s Tony Award winning musical Rent, a role he reprised for the less popular film version that traces the plight of struggling East Village bohemians. But the time he spent on Broadway was bittersweet, his experience soured by Larson’s sudden death, followed by his mother’s battle with cancer. To come to terms with losing family and friends, as well as to chronicle his amazing experience with the cast of Rent, Rapp wrote Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent. Listen to Rapp read excerpts of his personal journey tonight at 8:00 at Books & Books. Call 305-442-4408, or visit www.booksandbooks.com.
