Farm-Fresh Feast

Every weekend for the past decade, Gardner’s Markets has invited farmers from the southernmost areas of the county to sell their bounty of fresh fruits and flowers. To celebrate ten years of good food and the perseverance of local farmers in spite of agricultural adversity, Gardner’s Markets proudly presents the Wine and Farm Festival. “We should be eating our local produce when it’s in season. And it’s such a short time -- only three or four months!” exclaims owner Elizabeth Adams. Today from noon to 3:00 p.m., enjoy culinary seminars, live music, yummy offerings from local chefs, and the opportunity to taste more than 100 wines. Admission to the festival at Evelyn Greer Park (8200 SW 124th St., Pinecrest) is $50. Across the street at Gardner’s Market at Pinecrest (8287 SW 124th St.), admission to the farmers’ market is free. Proceeds will benefit CHARLEE Homes for Children and local schools in impoverished farming districts. Call 305-255-2468, or visit www.gardnersmarkets.com.
