Derrick Carter

When dance music first took off in the Seventies and Eighties, club DJs ignored genre boundaries and played whatever they wanted. The results were unpredictable and exciting blends that left ecstatic clubbers guessing what the DJ had in store next. Chicago's Derrick Carter was influenced by this movement and played a key role, both as a producer and DJ, in building the Chicago house scene. Similar to the classic DJ style of Danny Tenaglia and Louie Vega, Carter's sets mix and match house, old-school disco, soul, jazz, and everything in between. Armed with his vast record collection and a preternatural gift for dropping the right tunes at the right time, Carter offers a nostalgic clubbing experience that comes straight from dance music's glory days.
