As they leap across the stage, executing perfect pirouettes and high kicks, it is impossible not to be in awe of these leggy dancers. Exuding grace and strength, the “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions are marching into town to celebrate their 36th anniversary season. You may remember the Lipizzaners from the 1963 Disney film Miracle of the White Stallions, which depicts the dramatic World War II rescue operation, ordered by Gen. George S. Patton and conducted by the U.S. Army’s Second Cavalry -- an act that saved the horses from certain extinction. Today the dozen stallions on tour will perform an equestrian ballet, with horse and rider uniting in perfect form during the intricate dressage, and will take your breath away with a series of aerial leaps called Airs Above the Ground.
