"Molten chocolate cake" brought the usual warm, syrupy-centered disc of deep chocolate, but "bananas Foster cake brûlée" is definitely something you don't see every day. It was tasty too, with a banana cake base topped, in ascending order, by sugar-and-rum-fired bananas, vanilla custard, and a wispily brittle sugar cap. A duo of flans composed the third dessert, and I reassert that a more buoyant alternative, perhaps a bowl of berries, should be included in the options. Then again, the menu you'll receive will be different from the one just described and might very well contain a fruity dessert choice.
Whatever foods fill the bill, dinner at Vida promises to be consistently fresh, occasionally fanciful, and always prepared with passion. Just a few words of advice: Pace yourselves. And watch it with those cheeses.
