Throw Down Your Arms (Rocket Science)
In what will inevitably go down as one of 2005's most unlikely collaborations, Irish songstress Sinéad O'Connor teamed up with legendary Jamaican reggae producers/musicians Sly and Robbie to make Throw Down Your Arms, O'Connor's new album and her first release since she announced she was quitting the music business for good in 2003. Surprisingly, the collaborations worked to a large extent. The album's production is vintage one-drop reggae. And though it does take a minute to warm up to the idea of O'Connor over Sly and Robbie beats, her voice does project enough presence to not get lost amid the rhythms.
