Are you tired of bras with slipping straps and uncomfortable underwires? Don't burn 'em; hang 'em from a tree. To recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month, Norman Brothers Produce (7621 SW 87th Ave., Miami) is asking women to "donate a bra and a buck." The store will donate one dollar to the American Cancer Society for each bra it harvests, and at the end of the month, the bras will be cleaned and donated to the Salvation Army. The bumper crop is blossoming from the trees and filling the neighborhood store with pink lace, black satin, and white spandex, but there's plenty of room for more. "We have several hundred, but we haven't reached the thousand mark yet," says store manager Suann Suggs. Take it off and let it flap in the breeze above the bananas or dangle over the daikon. For Tatiana Byron, every day is wedding day. As the president of The Wedding Salon, Byron shows crowds of soon-to-be brides and grooms how fabulous their special day could be. This evening Miami's marriage-minded can sample delicious offerings from caterers and taste cakes by Ana Paz and New York's Sylvia Weinstock. A Saks Fifth Avenue fashion show will send in the gowns. Want to see what a million-dollar engagement ring looks like? Sear your corneas at the Tiffany display. According to Byron, guests will receive the mother of all gift bags. "We're including over $500 of products and services — everything from full-size bottles of Vera Wang perfume to Giorgio Armani cosmetics," she boasts. While catering to yourself, you can also help others. A silent auction will be held to benefit the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. In this cozy, warm neighborhood bar, customers can enjoy a bistro glass of quality vino. "I don't serve anything I won't drink myself," declares approachably erudite co-owner Danny Brody. The bottles here are artfully displayed, with a Zen poem posted underneath as a guide to subtle flavors. The varieties available are exotic, refreshing, and surprisingly affordable.
