Strange Days Festival

More than 35 years, an entire generational divide, have passed since the Sixties faded from view, so any bill boasting an archetype from that era might arouse suspicion. The remnants and recasts starring in the Strange Days Festival are anchored by secondary members covering signature songs with varying degrees of credibility. Even the headliners, Doors of the 21st Century, merit a disclaimer. They feature only two original Doors men, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, backing ex-Cult leader Ian Astbury, whose Morrison affectations make him something akin to Jim's dead-ringer. Florida homeboy Pat "Boom Boom" Travers may fast-forward the hit parade a couple of decades, but it will be the ample oldies that light the fires and rekindle musical memories, be they firsthand or radio-refrained. Given the festival's psychedelic spin, expect a vibe both strange and dazed indeed.
