The Miami Riverday celebration is a way-cool event, paying tribute to the waterway on which this city was founded. It's the area's only "working" river, which is to say the only one that handles industrial boat and ship traffic. Earthman Project, Grant Livingston, Eddie Balzola & Holly Spillane will entertain musically. There will be historical re-enactments, boat tours, a marine-business expo, and maritime exhibit. You can chat with representatives from environmental organizations, try rock climbing, or just peruse the art displays and Miccosukee crafts. Take a water taxi from the Sheraton at 495 Brickell Ave., Miami or from 400 SE Second Ave., Miami to the event at José Martí Park (SW Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue). Perhaps the coolest innovation for the ninth annual Riverday is a project of the Florida Bicycle Association, which will provide a secure area near the park's entrance where you can leave your bicycle, a free service known as "valet bike parking" that's become quite popular in other cities. WED 3/23At this moment volunteer ball boys are bleaching their white shorts and sprinting back and forth in their back yards, all in preparation for the NASDAQ-100 tennis tournament. With 600 reporters and 900 hours of televised coverage in more than 150 countries, they'd better look their best. But all those eyes will most likely be on the world's best tennis players, including defending champion Andy Roddick, six-time champion Andre Agassi, and the number one player in the world, Roger Federer. They say tennis is a gentleman's sport, but now that those Compton phenoms the Williams sisters are back in full force, they might have to rethink that handle. Catch them all as they serve up sexy grunts and compete for more than $6.5 million in prizes. All year long they're adversaries in the marketplace, now they take the battle to the courts.
