Jorge Ben Jor

The Brazilian legend began his career with "Mas Que Nada," a bossa nova classic which was since re-recorded by virtually everyone in the movement. During the Seventies, he helped to revolutionize pop music in Brazil by blending the sounds of Rio samba with styles inspired by the likes of James Brown and George Clinton. Always keeping an open mind, Ben joined the jazz-fusion circuit during the Eighties, when he changed his surname from "Ben" to "Ben Jor" and incorporated European influences into his music. By keeping fresh, he has stayed on the top of the music business in Brazil. On the current tour he promotes his new album, Reactivus Amor Est (Turba Philosophorum), which roughly translates into Love Reacts (Philosophizing Crowd).
