South Beach might be the place you'd expect to see a "snake" chasing shapely dancers, but it's Sunny Isles where the girls are actually happy about it. The brilliant New Wave Magic show at the Ramada Marco Polo Resort Hotel (19201 Collins Ave., North Miami Beach) has been extended into 2005. Exotic animals (including a python) and a bevy of Las Vegas-style showgirls support choreographed illusions. The updated tricks include old standards like levitation and a slew of comedy routines to round out the package. Even Elvis makes an appearance in an hilarious audience participation skit reminiscent of Carson's Carnac the Magnificent. Kevin and Caruso are the prestidigitators behind this high-energy cabaret show. The team has produced magic shows for more than fifteen years, earning the cruise industry's "Show of the Year" award five years in a row. Feel the magic tonight at 8:00. This hymn by Charles Wesley captures the intent of Miami's only professional chamber choir. With "I'm a Soldier," the members of Seraphic Fire offer a selection of gospel, spirituals, and freedom songs to commemorate the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and all of the forgotten leaders of the civil rights movement. The artistic director, Patrick Dupre Quigley, 27, brings energy and soul to the typically staid world of chamber music. With the exception of jury duty, the human appetite for courtroom drama is seemingly endless. In Clarence Darrow's Last Trial (by Tony-nominated Shirley Lauro) the famous monkey trial attorney goes Hawaiian to defend a naval officer accused of murder. Directed by Rafael de Acha, starring John Felix (at right) with John Bixler and Susan Dempsey, the play runs through February 20 at the New Theatre, 4120 Laguna St., Coral Gables.
