Voz Veis

It turns out that Venezuela's oil-rich state of Zulia also has a wealth of musical talent. The vocally driven sextet Voz Veis has a range of octaves as broad as the state's massive Lake Maracaibo. Originally an a cappella boy band formed seven years ago to serenade señoritas, the group has matured, adding instruments to turn their romantic crooning into catchy Latin pop. Voz Veis, which means "you see" in Zulian Spanish, is hoping a little exposure at Miami's La Covacha club will show why they recently topped the Venezuelan charts with several singles from their debut CD, Virao. Message to young men: Don't be intimidated by this Latin version of the Backstreet Boys. If the girls swoon, you'll be in the audience to catch them.
