Daddy G

DJ-Kicks !K7 Records

Grant Marshall, a.k.a. Daddy G, was the strong silent type in the original lineup of Massive Attack (now the sole domain of Robert "3-D" Del Naja). Marshall seeks to establish a career apart from the UK group, yet as a DJ he can't stray from using their songs and remixes in his set for the DJ-Kicks series, including the group's dubbed-out interpretations of Les Negresses Vertes and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Standout transitions -- Foxy Brown's "Oh Yeah" into Leftfield's "Inspection/Check One," for example -- give the proceedings just the right amount of unpredictability for people who enjoy eclectic mixes. Otherwise, it's a safe bet for Massive Attack fans.
