"Evolution/Revolution: A Century of Modern Seating," opens today and offers a scintillating posterior showcase of the best seats turned out between 1849 and 1946. Humanitarian Elie Wiesel observed, "Although not all victims of the Holocaust were Jewish, all Jews were its victims." A somber reminder of the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust stands amid the impatient traffic near the Miami Beach Convention Center, on the corner of Meridian Avenue and Dade Boulevard. The "Sculpture of Love and Anguish," a patina bronze arm with an Auschwitz tattoo reaching to the sky, is the centerpiece of the Holocaust Memorial, balanced by the reflective life of the lily pond beside it. A black granite wall, etched with the names of victims and photographs and text of the horrors of concentration camps, runs beneath an arbor of white bougainvillea. Tonight at 6:00, the Holocaust Memorial 15th Anniversary Benefit Dinner at the Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, will raise funds to provide support to Holocaust survivors in the community and benefit educational outreach activities.
