Lulu Santos

Lulu Santos was partly responsible during Brazil's Eighties rock explosion for reestablishing the electric guitar in his native Rio after disco had relegated it to a lesser status. Influenced by surf rock and The Beatles (one of his early numbers was a remake of "Get Back" with Portuguese lyrics by Rita Lee), he adapted clever guitar licks for Brazilian pop, and as a result, songs such as as "Como Uma Onda" ("Like A Wave") and "Adivinha o Quê" ("Guess What?") became instant classics. Always a step ahead, he later embraced samplers while his colleagues shunned them. On his current tour, Santos promotes his latest album, Perfil.
