It's hellishly cold in Germany right now, and downright frigid underground. But for a taste of both in the comfort of Miami's temperate climes, one need only traipse over to the upstairs lounge of Edelweiss Gasthaus for a weekly gathering of the best in the local underground scene. And in underground, we're talking Teutonic-style Gothic/industrial and a general indulgence in the creative dark side of things. From the ashes of Ünderland Privat, the underground warehouse club near MIA (R.I.P. early 2002), comes the event by the same name hosted by Shakespeare's Sisters -- Monserrattz, Veronika, and Sandria -- movers in the local underground scene and members of the band DPX. According to Monserrattz, the baroque décor of the restaurant's lounge was "so Edgar Allan Poe," circa The Fall of the House of Usher, that the idea was born. Macabre, yes, but with an Addams Family sense of fun, the nacht is open to all, whether you come decked out in black vinyl cape, rivets, Victorian corset, or preppy plaid. And after a few choice pints of German beer, you'll be singing "Ich bin Berliner." Open from 9:00 p.m. till late, 2655 Biscayne Blvd. No cover. Call 305-205-2217. -- By John Anderson

Organist offers melodic sanctuary

MON 1/5 There is no better place to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany than the awe-inspiring Church of the Epiphany (8235 SW 57th Ave.). Home to a 3000-pipe Ruffatti organ constructed in Padua, Italy, the church will host another installment of its Great Music for a Great Space Concert Series. This time organist Bradley Hunter Welch takes the stage. While the Three Wise Men showed up 12 days late for the birth of Jesus, listeners are advised to be in their seats by 7:30 tonight to become wiser in the ways of the instrument Welch has mastered well enough to win the prestigious Dallas International Organ Competition. Admission is free. Call 305-667-4911. -- By Nina Korman
