Barbie dolls don't quite figure into the Miami Children's Theater's new production of Little Women. Based on the book by Louisa May Alcott, the play is about the antics of the 4 March sisters, and the fun and trouble they get into while growing up. They stew over boys. They share thoughts about life. They dress up in fancy clothes and do crazy things like cut off their hair and sell it. (Which Barbie would never do.) And one almost dies. Through it all, each sister loves each other to the extreme and they all devote oodles of love to their Marmee. Little Women opens tonight at 7:00 and runs through December 21 at the Dave and Mary Alper Jewish Community Center, 11155 SW 112th Ave. Admission is $12 and $10. Call 305-233-2206. --By Maya Ibars

Sometimes a brand-name greeting card doesn't say what you want to express to your loved ones during the holidays. Sometimes your personality can't be captured in a trinket bought over the counter, be it at Walgreens or Tiffany's. For those who are truly artistic, the key is to make your own greeting cards. The handy-dandy creative types at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida (101 W. Flagler St.) will be showing kids and adults alike the most convenient and inspiring ways to make prints of cool, unique designs. Kids will learn not to settle for what is available on store shelves, and adults may get their old crafty ways back. The workshop is part of the museum's Second Saturdays Family Fun Days, starting at 1:00 p.m. Admission is free. Call 305-375-1492. -- By Juan Carlos RodriguezOpportune MomentsSAT 12/13
