Mmm, pizza. Thin-crust pizza. Mushroom. Sausage. Pineapple. What do you mean, ewww? All pizza is good -- and educational. Want proof? Check out "Pizza: Any Way You Slice It" at the Miami Children's Museum (980 MacArthur Cswy.). The museum's first traveling exhibition gives kids ages 3 to 7 the chance to run their own little pizzeria, complete with menus, aprons, and (fake) oven: calling in orders; counting, weighing, and sorting ingredients for a foam "pizza"; developing their own recipes; studying a map so they can figure out where to make "deliveries" in tabletop neighborhoods. The play pies will come in handy for practicing fractions. The little chefs will also learn nutritional info (which won't stop them from eating the stuff, sorry) and fun facts about the history and culture of this fine food, including what toppings are favored in other countries -- for instance, Germans prefer bratwurst. And you thought pineapple was gross! No actual pizza is involved, though, so after they're done salivating over the fake pepperoni, the play-acting pizza makers can pay a visit to the museum's restaurant for the real thing. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through April 2004, except for Thanksgiving Day. Admission is $8 ($4 for City of Miami residents). Symphony concert sparks young minds

SUN 11/9For generations, Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf has sparked children's imaginations and turned them on to the wonders of music. It's fun to watch the young listeners' expressions as woodwinds become forest critters and kettle drums punctuate the roar of a wolf with a thunderous rumble. The blast never fails to excite even the most obnoxious youngster or adult in the audience. This afternoon radio personality Bonnie Berman narrates the story as the UM Symphony Orchestra plays the magical score. The performances start at 3:00 and 5:00 at UM's Gusman Concert Hall, 1314 Miller Dr., Coral Gables. Tickets cost $8 for children and $10 for adults. Call 305-271-7150. -- By Juan Carlos Rodriguez
