Rocket Projects: The grand opening of a new contemporary art space in the Design District will feature local artists in two shows. The gallery, run by Nina Arias (formerly at Kevin Bruk Gallery) and Nick Cindric, will try to encompass the multimedia spectrum, from performance to painting, sculpture to video. The inaugural show will feature Daniel Arsham, Martin Oppel, David Rohn, and George Sanchez in "Customized" and the trio called FeCuOp in "Assembly of an Allegory." Cernuda Arte: The Gables gallery kicks off the summer with a group show of Cuban artists, called, yes, "A Summer Group Show." The long list includes such artists as Servando Cabrera Moreno, Juan Roberto Diago, Wilfredo Lam, Domingo Ramos, and Sinuhé Vega. Fredric Snitzer Gallery: The fifteenth annual "National Art Exhibition by the Mentally Ill" is back. The popular exhibit, sponsored in part by Miami-Dade County, opens on Friday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fredric Snitzer Gallery, 3078 SW 38th Ct.; 305-448-8976.

ArtSpace/Virginia Miller Galleries: A group show of Latin artists, "Latin American Invitational, Part I," with work from Roberto Azank, Benjamin Cañas, Wilfredo Lam, Roberto Matta, Armando Morales, Elmar Rojas, and Jesus Soto, will be unveiled along with a second show featuring paintings of Andy Warhol from the Richard Weisman collection.
