Armesto Watch

Eladio José Armesto, excitable spokesman for Take Back Miami-Dade, was repeatedly bludgeoned last week. Miami's homosexualist media took offense at a Take Back flyer that noted Martin Luther King, Jr., would have been "outraged" that "homosexualist extremists" were duping civil rights leaders in order to gain "privileges for homosexuals, bisexuals, heterosexuals, and transsexuals." But Armesto, editor of the monthly El Nuevo Patria, slaps back hard. In a recent issue he disclosed: "Homosexualists aren't interested in adults. They seek to attract boys and youths." A front-page photo offered proof. It depicted a youngster and two adult men lying on a bed. The caption: "Homosexuals sleep with a boy of the black race whom they supposedly acquired by means of adoption." Zingers from the current issue: "Homosexualist extremists ... Say No to Discrimination/SAVE Dade, members of the Democratic National Committee, and anti-family mayors Alex Penelas and Manny Diaz have threatened openly to keep the National Democratic Convention from coming to the county" if the people repeal Miami-Dade's anti-discrimination law. Armesto then quotes his pal Julio Perez: "This blackmail against our community by the homosexualists is more proof of the intolerance and discrimination practiced by these extremists."
