As for this tour, which features fellow Shakti percussionist T.H. "Vikku" Vinayakram and Hussain's brothers Fazal and Taufiq Qureshi among other luminaries, Hussain is almost speechless when asked to describe the group's reception so far in North America. "Oh my God," he enthuses. "It's so amazing what is happening! The other day we played in Edmonton, Alberta, and that's in the boondocks! And we had a sold-out crowd, 1800 seats! It's just amazing; every show we've played so far has been a sellout. And now we're in Peoria; it's farther out than Edmonton! And it sold out, too. I cannot begin to tell you how incredible it has been. We go onstage thinking, Oh, we're just going to play two hours, and we end up playing three, three and a half hours!" He pauses, and then adds with obvious glee. "And it's just percussion!"
