In Clubland

In South Florida, where dance music and salsa rhythms rule, a good, honest-to-god rock band is hard to come by. Saturday at Tobacco Road (626 S. Miami Ave.) is the last chance, for who knows how long, to check out the best power-rock trio to ever call this part of the peninsula home: Manchild. Bassist Roger Bueno is taking off for Los Angeles. The other members of the band, songwriter, guitarist, and singer Demetrius Brown and his steady rocking pal drummer Eric Haase will stick around town. Naturally with a band member living on the other side of the country, gigs will be a little harder to arrange. So come check out the last Manchild jam for what surely will be a lengthy spell -- possibly forever. Smokin' Section will be on the patio. While the rock scene is dwindling from negligible to almost nothing, it doesn't mean Miami nights are silent. The sounds of music on Saturday at the Rhythm Room Cafe (239 Sunny Isles Blvd.) will come in the form of Latin Divas Night. Debby Cima and Diani jam with their bands, plus Willy Chirino's five harmonizing daughters -- Nicole, Angie, Olgamari, Jessica, and Alana -- hit the stage to show off why Sony signed them to record a couple of discs.
