It is not every weekend that you can see an Austrian marching band and then walk a few blocks to hear a 70-year-old North Carolina bluesman. But on Sunday you can catch just such a combo by sauntering from the Oktoberfest block party in front of Mozart Stube restaurant (325 Alcazar Ave, Coral Gables; 305-446-3364) to its sister bar Satchmo (60 Merrick Way, Coral Gables; 305-774-1883). The Austrian ensemble cranks up during the party, which lasts from noon till 5:00 p.m. and is free. George Herbert Moore, who hits the stage at 8:30 p.m., is one of those blues anomalies who has been playing guitar for about half a century but only recently started to creep into the public eye. His music includes raw renditions from the songbooks of Jimmy Reed, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Muddy Waters, just to name a few. Cover charge is five dollars.

If going from oompah to the blues doesn't wind your watch, then take a look at nightlife eccentric Shelly Novak. Yep, the drag queen with a perennial five-o'clock shadow and swells of chest hair is at it again. Novak will be featured at the Magic Garden in the Albion Hotel (1650 James Ave, Miami Beach; 305-913-1000) this Friday for a party to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. The weekly soiree takes on a fun house theme to help charm the masses into supporting the foundation. Anyone with a good throwing arm will have the chance to drop Novak in the dunk tank.
