A yearlong tribute to the past 100 years of design in our fair city begins today when the Wolfsonian-FIU inaugurates Celebrate a Century of Design: Miami Style, a series of events exploring the personalities and the places that have shaped the Miami sensibility and examining how the city invented and defined itself in this century. Tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at The Hotel (801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach), South Beach rehab pioneer Tony Goldman and quirky designer Todd Oldham will talk about their work restoring and renovating the structure (formerly known as the Tiffany Hotel), designed by Streamline specialist L. Murray Dickson and completed in 1939. Tickets cost $100 for Wolfsonian members and $125 for nonmembers (entry to the gala preview of "Miami Modernism," the show featuring 65 exhibitors peddling decorative arts representing design and fine-arts movements from 1900 to 1970, is included in the price). Call 305-535-2361.
