A social worker's claim - that her refusal to schedule abortions for clients got her fired - puts the Public Defender's Office on the defensive

Assistant County Attorney Bernstein maintains that it is perfectly within the law for Public Defender's Office staff members to help prisoners arrange to get abortions. "All they're trying to do is help a woman do something that's already legal," Bernstein reasons. "I don't see what the big deal would be."
